NOTE: THIS IS AN INDOOR TOURNAMENT ON A 7′ 4-⅛” HEIGHT NET (STANDARD USAV WOMEN’S NET HEIGHT)
Date and Location
Saturday, April 16, 2022, indoors in the Rockwell Cage. Click for MAP.
Teams should arrive at 8:30am to check in. The tournament will begin at 9:00 am.
Tournament Format
- The tournament is a 4v4 format, played on a net height of 7 feet, 4-⅛ inches (official USAV women’s net height).
- Any player who is a strong attacker on a net height of 7 feet, 11-⅝ inches (official USAV men’s net height) should only jump and attack from behind the 10-foot line and may not jump and block at the net.
- At the start of each match, the captain of each team will inform the officiating team which of their members has been designated as limited to 10’ line attacks.
- In the spirit of the tournament, we encourage gender diverse teams (rosters ideally should contain more than one gender)!
- Team rosters may consist of 4-6 players (only 4 players on the court at a time).
- With MIT’s new COVID guidelines, rosters may now consist of both MIT and non-MIT students/affiliates. However, each team must have at least one MIT affiliate with current access to the gym!
- We anticipate having three different tournament levels (shown below). Players in the recreation and mid-level groups are not allowed to jump serve.
- There will be an estimated total of 20 teams, divided based on interest. If your level does not have enough teams registered by the week before the tournament, you will be notified and your money will be refunded.
- COOL PRIZES (free dinners, gift certificates, etc.) will be awarded to the top finishers in each division.
Levels
- Recreation/Yankee C
- Mid-level/Yankee C/C+
- Varsity/high-level club/Yankee B- and up
Tournament Rules
In addition to the rules stated above:
- Jersey numbers not required.
- Service rotation must remain the same over the course of a game, but positional rotation is not necessary; the server is considered a back row player.

- Registration fees will be $70 for teams that register before or on April 6th, and $80 for teams that register after April 6th.
